Então eu passo a explicar.

No entanto, não me convenceu. Voltaremos.

CARBON SHINAIS, LEGAL OR ILLEGAL?
One of these days I "envolved" myself, so to speak, in a small discussion in a post of the kendo-world magazine forum, about the weight of carbon shinais.
And all because, I don't know where I got this idea, but I have this feeling that a Hasegawa would not pass a shinai-check.
Let me explain. If you find a kendo dealer in the internet, one that announces the weight of the carbon shinais, then you'll noticed two things:

1 - the weight of a 39 size shinai (adult) is 470 gr.
2 - the image that goes along with it is of a complete shinai, minus the tsuba and tsuba dome.

Now we all know(?) the minimum weight for a shinai to be admited in shiai is 510 gr (!!!).

Anyway, we were in this discussion when this american sandan guy just posted a message saying that, and he seemed quite sure, the 470 gr. referred only to the weight of the staves that make the shinai.

Could it be? It's got to. It's just because the photos always show allready assembled shinais, and I don't see how a tsuba and a tsuba dome can weight the 40 gr missing.

And yet he didn't convinced me. We'll be back.

EM BREVE

Três oitavo dan, três sétimo dan e um sexto dan. E, por enquanto, não digo mais nada. Ok, ok em Lisboa.

SOON
Three eight dan, three seven dan and one six dan. That's all I can say, for now. Ok, ok in Lisbon.

CARBON SHINAIS 2, IT GET'S WORSE...
With all this small talk (I don't know what I was thinking), I forgot a small detail that makes things even "worse".

The shinai-check it's done with shinais WITHOUT tsuba or tsuba dome.
We really have to get back to this.
