I failled
Yesterday I failled. My best intentions were not enough. I didn't find the time to write anything in this blog. Sh**! I didn't even went to kendo pratice.
Well, ain't no biggie; it's not the first (and surelly won't be the last) time I fail to to something in my life.

12º WKC.

Vejam o video do último combate. Grande tanga.

12th WKC. What else did I saw?
The thing that surprised me the most was the complet lack of ambition in the Korean team. The fear to risk. That’s the difference between having a man called Eiga playing for you or not. And the fact is that mister Eiga Naoki made all the difference in the world. If the very bad tempered Korean coach as someone to blame is himself and his guys. What the hell did he expect? That we should be there yet, waiting for the technics his guys didn’t do to be counted as ippons? Look at the video of the crucial fight. The korean kenshi did not made one serious attempt to hit the japanese. Do you expect to win world championships fighting like that? Bullshit.
Eiga, he dared. He bet everything on tsukis. He bet once, twice, three times and then he won. Congratulations Eiga san.
The rest, kids, it’s history.

I just remembered, don't know why, of a text written in 1905, by a known portuguese writer called Wenceslau de Moraes, who lived and died in Japan, and it's a text about Ju-Jitsu.
I'll get back to these subject one of these days. Who knows? I might even try to translate it???

The 12th World Kendo Champs. - what I saw
Let me tell you first what I heard. About the koreans and their performance during the 11th WKC (the one from California) I heard a looot of things. I heard amazing stories about favours done to some countries, injustices done to others, and so on. But those championships I didn't saw. I was not able to go there that year.
But the 12th WKC I was there. Nobody told me, I saw. And the first thing I saw was a super-strong korean lobby. Ok, they have a very good, ok sorry, an amazing kendo, yes. But that "Life-is-an-injustice-it-is-yeah-Calimero-attitude" wont take them anywhere. And by the way the team was NOT that next big thing. Excuse me, but there performance during the teams event was poor. We'll never know, but I would be very surprised (here's the big heresy) if they would get to the final, had they met Italy in semi-final.
IN CONCLUSION: it was not the koreans fault, if I was disapointed, it was my fault. People told so many things about them, that I guess I believed it...

In the begining it was karate.
In February 3, 1976, I wasn't 14 years old yet, when I embarqued on a no return trip. A trip that brought, and still brings me, the most amazing and intense experiences and rewards.
